STUDENTS
14-16
In our first year, through our East Consortium partners, students aged 14-16 will be taking part-time courses at Nexus, such as BTEC Engineering, GCSE Product Design and GCSE Graphic Design. These courses will lead to a level 2 qualification. In addition, the centre will be running a two year level 1 Junior Apprenticeship programme for a group of young learners across the Consortium. For more information about these programmes and to take part in the taster sessions, please contact your Headteacher.
If you are interested in joining the after school engineering club, or attending the holiday activities, please email Mr D Hillyard or Mr R Stirling so that they can send you further details.
16-19
Students aged 16-19 looking for full time engineering courses commencing September 2012, will be interested in the level 3 BTEC courses, being run in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Entry to these programmes will be on the basis of 5 x A*-C GCSEs, including English, maths and science. For more information about these programmes please contact Nexus.
Engineering Apprenticeships will also be available through Nexus, if you are a student or an employer who requires further information, please contact us.
Adults and Education
Adults can access the facilities at Nexus in a variety of ways. We will be running evening courses, such as an introduction to CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacture) or electronics for beginners. If you are a hobbyist, you might want to know about the club we are setting up which will enable you to access to our equipment. If you are an employee who feels that their skills need some refreshing, contact us and we can see how we can help you and your employer.
Those adults who have been unfortunate to have been out of work for some time and feel that they could find a suitable job in the engineering industry, if only they had the right skills may find that our adult back to work course is exactly the right move.
