Engineering training and resources
Nexus is an important new training and resource facility for all those involved in, or wishing to be part of, the engineering industry.
Nexus will provide training and learning opportunities for learners of all ages focussing on skills and knowledge required for the growing sectors of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing.
Based in temporary workshops at The Conge, Great Yarmouth, Nexus is offering taster courses for school and college students, providing a flavour of the engineering disciplines and career opportunities the industry offers.
Nexus will also be working with local employers to establish training requirements, enabling the offer of competency and up-skilling programmes.
Within the Nexus centre there will be the opportunity for engineering companies and entrepreneurs to access specialist equipment and expertise.
Next summer, Nexus will transfer to a brand new facility at Beacon Park, Gorleston. Building work begins in January 2012 and the doors will open to students the following September.
It will feature a manufacturing workshop, energy/renewables laboratory, CAD facilities, training areas for electronic, instrumentation, mechanical and electrical engineering, an ICT suite and classrooms.
