EQUIPMENT

We have a range of specialist equipment which is used for training the next generation of engineers.

It’s also available for engineering companies who might occasionally need help with manufacturing models and prototypes or machining specialist parts.

The equipment within the DDMC includes, but is not limited to:

  • CNC machining cell, incorporating ABB IRB 140 Robot, HAAS CNC Super Mini Mill
  • Fortus 360mc FDM RP machine
  • MTT 5/04 Vacuum casting system
  • Hand held 3D laser scanner
  • HAAS VF2 5-axis CNC mill
  • HAAS TL-1 CNC lathe
  • Mitsubishi RA60 CNC wire erode EDM machine
  • QCT Quantum 6104 CNC Coordinate measuring machine
  • 3D printer
  • HAAS CNC Simulators
  • Flatcom 4-axis CNC router

The FDM machine can be used for immediate rapid prototype manufacture of plastic parts, jigs and fixtures, vacuum moulds, prototype injection moulds, master parts or silicon mould manufacture, RTV (room temperature vulcanised) moulds and carbon fibre lay-ups.   Cost effective manufacture can be offered to businesses where the FDM machine is used in conjunction with vacuum casting offering manufacturing of moulded plastic parts using a range of thermo setting plastics.

The high resolution laser scanner can be used to collect data from parts that require reverse engineering scanning surfaces and areas into which equipment must be designed to fit, scanning to document and record artefacts.  The machine is mobile and therefore can be taken to business premises.

All the equipment is available to be used to provide contracted engineering services and available for hire.
